Coach Wright
A lifelong student and coach of wrestling, passionate about developing athletes on and off the mat.
My Journey
My wrestling path began at Maumelle High School, where outstanding mentors shaped the work ethic and competitive mindset that still drives me. I finished my high school career as a 5A state champion and three-time state placer.
I competed for five years at Williams Baptist University, part of a program that earned a top-3 national finish. After college, I spent a year competing in senior-level Greco-Roman — including the U.S. Open — which deepened my technical understanding and competitive edge.
Coaching Impact
As a coach, I served on staff at Mount St. Joseph University in Ohio, where I helped develop an All-American and DIII national champion. After the pandemic, I returned home to Arkansas to coach high school wrestling. Since then, I’ve helped lead programs to multiple top-5 state finishes and been part of three state championship teams — two as head coach.
Coaching Philosophy
I take a fundamentals-first approach: dominant positions, repeatable technique chains, and strong habits built through deliberate practice, live simulation, and individual development plans. I teach the why behind every drill so athletes learn to think positionally and adapt under pressure.
I’ve learned through years of competing and coaching which fundamentals truly matter for long-term success. This platform is where I share practical lessons, proven progressions, and day-to-day practices — straightforward, experience-tested guidance to help athletes and coaches build a strong wrestling foundation.
